The Developer's Philosophy
Mreow is intended to be a fun, community-driven game.
We support curiosity, experimentation, scripting, modding,
custom clients, and educational exploration, provided that
these activities do not damage the service, harm other users,
violate applicable law, or infringe our rights or the rights
of others.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
By accessing, connecting to, creating a profile on, or using
Mreow, including mreow.online and related services
operated by us, you acknowledge that you have read, understood,
and agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Notice provided
in this interface.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms apply to the website, game servers, profiles,
chat systems, social features, and other functionality
operated as part of Mreow.
2. Fair Play & Scripting
We embrace the hacker spirit. You are permitted to use scripts,
create custom clients, inspect publicly accessible game code,
experiment with the protocol, and create educational tools,
provided that your activities do not harm the Service or other
players.
However:
-
Custom clients, scripts, modifications, and related
tools must not be used to damage, disrupt, or interfere
with the Service.
-
Selling or commercially exploiting Mreow's intellectual
property, game assets, or proprietary services without
permission is prohibited.
-
DDoS attacks, intentional service disruption, destructive
exploitation, SQL injection, credential attacks, or
similar malicious activity are prohibited.
-
Exploit research and security testing must be conducted
responsibly and must not intentionally destroy game
data, compromise other users, or disrupt the Service.
-
We may restrict or permanently terminate access for
users who abuse vulnerabilities or intentionally harm
the Service.
3. User Content & Profiles
Users may be permitted to create profiles, usernames, handles,
descriptions, avatars, messages, and other user-generated
content. You are responsible for content that you submit,
upload, transmit, or display through the Service.
By submitting content, you represent that you have the right
to submit that content and that your submission does not
violate these Terms, applicable law, or the rights of another
person.
Prohibited content includes:
-
Pornographic, sexually explicit, or sexually graphic
profile pictures, avatars, images, or other content.
-
Sexual content involving, depicting, or sexualizing
minors.
-
Sexual or explicit usernames, handles, profile
descriptions, or messages.
-
Content intended to expose, distribute, or solicit
another person's private information.
-
Doxxing or publication of private personal information
without authorization.
-
Death threats or threats of serious physical harm.
-
Incitement, encouragement, or instructions to commit
violence against another person.
-
Content that violates applicable law or infringes
another person's intellectual-property, privacy,
publicity, or other legal rights.
-
Malicious links, malware, phishing, scams, or other
content intended to compromise another user's device
or account.
4. Avatar & Profile Image Policy
Profile images and avatars must be appropriate for a general
gaming environment. Users may not upload, link to, embed, or
otherwise display pornographic, sexually explicit, sexually
graphic, or sexualized content through a profile or avatar.
Important:
An avatar being hosted on another website does not make it
permitted. Linking to or embedding prohibited content
through an external URL is still a violation of these
Terms.
We may remove, hide, replace, or disable any avatar or profile
content that we determine violates these rules. Accounts may
also be suspended or permanently terminated for violations.
5. Reporting Prohibited Content
Mreow provides users with mechanisms to report profiles and
other content that may violate these Terms.
See something inappropriate?
Use the Report Profile feature available on profiles
to notify us of potentially prohibited content.
Reports may include, among other things:
- Sexual or explicit profile content
- Sexual content involving minors
- Threats or violent content
- Doxxing or exposed private information
- Harassment
- Malicious or illegal content
- Other violations of these Terms
Reports may be reviewed by us and may result in content removal,
account restrictions, suspension, permanent termination, or
other appropriate action. We may preserve information relating
to reports and moderation actions when reasonably necessary
for safety, security, abuse prevention, legal compliance,
dispute resolution, or enforcement of these Terms.
The availability of a reporting mechanism does not guarantee
that every report will result in a particular outcome. We
reserve discretion regarding moderation and enforcement.
6. Speech, Harassment & Threats
We do not intend to police ordinary opinions, disagreements, criticism,
arguments, insults, profanity, or offensive language between users.
Users may express dislike toward others or use language that others may
find rude, offensive, or insulting. Such speech, by itself, does not
constitute a violation of these Terms. If another user insults you,
including by using a slur or other offensive term, you are generally
expected to ignore it, move on, or use the available blocking or
reporting features rather than treating the insult itself as a
punishable offense.
Death threats, credible threats of serious physical harm, doxxing,
targeted harassment, stalking, and incitement to violence are
strictly prohibited.
Repeated or targeted conduct may constitute harassment when it goes
beyond ordinary arguments or insults and is intended to intimidate,
threaten, or seriously disrupt another user's ability to use the
service.
7. Moderation & Enforcement
We reserve the right, but do not undertake an obligation, to
review, remove, restrict, disable, or refuse to display user
content that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe
presents a safety, legal, security, or operational concern.
-
Accounts may be suspended or permanently banned for
violations.
-
Prohibited avatars, descriptions, usernames, or other
content may be removed without prior notice.
-
Repeat violations may result in longer or permanent
restrictions.
-
We may take action immediately when content presents a
serious safety or legal concern.
-
We may preserve moderation records and relevant evidence
for legitimate safety, security, legal, or enforcement
purposes.
-
We may cooperate with lawful requests from courts,
law-enforcement agencies, regulators, or other authorized
authorities where required or permitted by law.
8. Accounts & Profile Information
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your
account and for activity performed through your account.
You may not intentionally impersonate another person,
organization, staff member, administrator, developer, or
content creator.
We may restrict usernames, handles, profile descriptions,
badges, or other profile information that creates confusion
regarding a user's identity, authority, or affiliation.
9. Intellectual Property
Mreow, including its original game code, server software,
branding, artwork, game design, interface, logos, and other
original materials, may be protected by applicable intellectual
property laws.
Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership of Mreow's
intellectual property. Permission to create free scripts,
modifications, or custom clients does not constitute a transfer
of ownership or a general commercial license.
10. Third-Party Services & Links
Mreow may contain links to or integrations with third-party
services. We do not control third-party websites, services,
content, availability, or privacy practices.
Users are responsible for reviewing the terms and privacy
practices of third-party services they choose to access.
11. Service Availability
Mreow is provided on an availability basis. We may modify,
suspend, discontinue, restart, update, or otherwise change
portions of the Service at any time.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, permanent
preservation of game progress, permanent availability of
particular servers, or permanent availability of any feature.
12. Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service
is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of
any kind, express or implied, except where such warranties
cannot legally be excluded.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be error-free,
secure, uninterrupted, free of harmful third-party content,
or available at all times.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Mreow and
its operators, developers, contributors, and service providers
will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential,
special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related
to use of the Service.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit liability
where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.
14. User Responsibility
Users are responsible for their own conduct and for content
they intentionally submit to the Service. Violating these
Terms may result in removal of content, suspension,
termination, loss of access to game features, or other
appropriate enforcement action.
Nothing in these Terms authorizes a user to submit prohibited
content simply because technical functionality allows the
content to be submitted.
15. Indemnification
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree
to be responsible for claims, damages, losses, liabilities,
and reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful conduct,
your violation of these Terms, or content you intentionally
submit to the Service, except to the extent caused by our
own unlawful conduct or as otherwise prohibited by applicable
law.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms
become effective when posted through the Service unless a
different effective date is stated.
Your continued use of Mreow after an update constitutes
acceptance of the updated Terms to the extent permitted by law.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is determined to be invalid,
unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced
to the maximum extent permitted by law and the remaining
provisions will remain in effect to the extent legally
permissible.
Privacy & Data Collection
This section describes the categories of information Mreow
stores in connection with profiles, gameplay, and use of the
Service.
Player UUID
Mreow generates a random
UUID (Universally Unique
Identifier)
for your profile.
This UUID is used to identify and retrieve your Mreow profile
and game data. It is strictly associated with Mreow and its
services, including mreow.online and mreow.pro.
The UUID is not intended to represent your real-world identity,
and we do not intentionally use it as a hardware fingerprint
or as an identifier for you across unrelated websites or
services.
The UUID should not be interpreted as a statement that Mreow
can never receive identifying information through other
technical, legal, security, payment, hosting, or third-party
mechanisms. This notice describes the intended use of the
Mreow profile UUID.
Profile Information
We store information associated with your Mreow profile,
including:
- Username
- Account handle
- Profile description
- Profile creation date and time
- Profile/avatar information, where provided
Gameplay Data
We store gameplay and progression information associated with
your Mreow profile, which may include:
- High score
- Total time played
- Friends you manually add through the game
- In-game inventory
- Shard quantities and other game inventory values
- Clan ID
- Paws, the in-game currency
- Kill statistics
- Badges and account roles
- Profile creation date and time
Examples of badges may include Developer, Administrator,
Staff, and Content Creator badges.
Friends
If you manually add another player as a friend, the resulting
friendship relationship may be stored with your profile so that
the game can provide its social features.
IP Addresses & Hardware Information
We do not intentionally store your IP address or hardware
fingerprint as part of your normal Mreow player profile.
However, normal operation of the Internet, web servers,
hosting providers, security systems, networking equipment,
browsers, CDNs, or other infrastructure may technically process
network information temporarily. Such processing may occur
outside the Mreow player database and may be governed by the
policies of the relevant infrastructure provider.
Browser Storage & Cookies
Your browser may store the Mreow UUID or other necessary
client-side information so that the Service can recognize
your profile and preserve your game state.
Clearing your browser's Mreow-related cookies or local storage
may cause the browser to lose the identifier needed to access
your existing profile.
User-Generated Content
Content you intentionally submit to Mreow, such as usernames,
handles, descriptions, avatars, reports, or other profile
information, may be stored as necessary to operate the Service,
enforce the Terms, investigate abuse, maintain security, and
respond to reports or legal requests.
Reports & Safety Records
When a user reports a profile or other content, we may retain
information necessary to investigate the report and document
moderation actions. This may include the reported account,
reason for the report, relevant content, timestamps, and the
resulting moderation action.
These records may be retained for legitimate safety, security,
abuse-prevention, dispute-resolution, and legal-compliance
purposes.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures intended to protect stored profile
and gameplay information against unauthorized access,
alteration, or destruction. No Internet-connected system can
be guaranteed to be completely secure.
